Prof. Gregory Blatch

Professor Gregory Blatch is the Director of PCRi.

Gregory is Emeritus Professor at The University of Notre Dame Australia, having previously served as Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) Research. He has also served academia at Executive Dean, Head of the School, Head of Department and Head of Discipline levels. He has developed teaching and research capacity at Departmental, School, Faculty and University-wide levels. He can readily provide advice, guidance and hands-on input into the following areas of academic research: governance frameworks; policies and guidelines; strategic plans; grant writing; ethics and integrity matters; training workshops on career development and leadership; mentorship; and postgraduate student supervision.

Gregory has worked in academia for over 35 years, with over 15 years of experience at a senior or executive leader level. He completed his PhD at the University of Cape Town, conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University, and as an early career researcher was awarded a prestigious Wellcome Trust International Senior Research Fellowship (UK). His personal research interests fall within the broad field of cellular stress biology, and he is internationally recognized for his work on the role of stress in disease (e.g. cancer) and infection (e.g. malaria). His contributions to the academy and the promotion of science more broadly, have been recognized through a number of awards and fellowships (e.g. Senior Fellow of the Cell Stress Society International, SFCSSI; Fellow of the Royal Society of South Africa, FRSSAf).
