Professor Todor Vasiljevic is a consultant for PCRi.
Todor obtained his PhD in Food Science and Technology from the University of Alberta, Canada, and he has over 30 years of research, consulting and teaching experience within academia working closely with the food industry. He is currently Leader of Advanced Food Systems at Victoria University, having previously held leadership roles at the Director, Associate Dean, and Head of Discipline levels. Having completed over 50 industry related research projects, he has a deep understanding of grant applications, contract negotiations, research governance, and research integrity and ethics.
Todor brings a wealth of experience and expertise in industry engagement, focusing on integrated solutions to contemporary issues, innovative processing, and safety and sustainability in the food industry. He has established strong relationships with local (e.g. Murray Goulburn/Saputo and Sanitarium) and international companies (e.g. Nestle and Fonterra), resulting in critical funding (over 5 million) for research and economic development. These industry collaborations have also resulted in industry supported research student projects, culminating in job-ready, industry relevant and highly skilled graduates. He has been actively involved in policy development related to research training, and he has mentored over 40 MSc/PhD students to completion.
His understanding of the commercial reality has led to various appointments within the industry, and he is currently on the Board of Directors of the G21 Agri Collective, which focuses on issues related to the food industry in regional Victoria. His relentless passion for addressing relevant commercial issues has also resulted in over 200 high-impact publications, placing him on Stanford’s list of the top 2% of scientists worldwide.
